Day 28 - Fonfria to Triacastela
We had a very leisurely day today, so we set our alarms for 7.15am instead of 5.45am! What a treat. Of course what happened was that we all woke at 5.45am!!!
Anyway lovely relaxed breakfast in the best of albergues! We set off just after 9am and wound our way down hill to Triacastela. Only 9km in the book so a really relaxing day!
First the view from the front of our Albergue, then we walked down through Fonfria. It was a small town which was definitely all about the cows! As we continued on down the hill we heard cow bells coming towards us and quickly jumped up the banks on the side of the path as a lady farmer brought her small herd up to the fields.
Next we passed through Biduedo, an even smaller hamlet. But it did have a tiny chapel.
We had started to see the cloud beneath us, but as we descended the sun gradually burnt it off, so the view appeared. Much of the walk was through trees and the temperature had dropped from previous days so it was very comfortable walking.
From Biduedo, we continued on to Fillobal (Filloval in the book), where we stopped for a drink in a beautiful bar.
Next we reached As Pasantes. It seemed to only have one or two farm buildings as we arrived, but it was deceptive with quite a few tumble down barns but also some new renovations too.
Next stop in the book is Triacastela, but we had an added bonus when we came across Ramil, with its 800 year old chestnut tree and some amazing old buildings around it!!
And then we were in Triacastela. Another great accommodation, with amazing and unusual rooms. Unfortunately ours has a hidden step that I managed to fall down even before our first beer, so currently nursing a sore knee!!
All except Mitch went for lunch and then a lazy afternoon. Posting early today, but haven't even hit 20k steps today!!
Sounds like a lovely easy day for you to enjoy. Xxx
