Day 18 - Ledigos to Bercianos del Real Camino

So today was a day of highs and lows. On the high side, we passed through the official geographic halfway point and also picked up our halfway certificates. More on that later, but on the low side, we were a man down, as Mitch took the sensible decision to rest his feet for a couple of days to let the blisters heal.

We all had breakfast at the albergue and then Martin, Fi and I headed off. Mitch was planning to get a cab later and possibly meet us for lunch in Sahagun.

We reached Terradillos de los Templarios as it was only 2.8km from Ledigos. It has a connection to the Knights Templar, hence the name, so not sure if this guy was supposed to be a Knight

We carried on to Moratinos. Another small village that had a great group of the buried bodegas.

We continued to San Nicolas del real Camino, where we had the best tostada con tomate, and we have tried a few!!

We headed towards Sahagun for lunch. Mitch had headed off to our next albergue to get the laundry done!!

Just before Sahagun is the official geographical half way point on the Camino. Due to many variations, there is no one spot, so they have decreed this is the place.

We continued into Sahagun, past more wall art, including the actors from the Way. And then past the bull ring. We found a great cafe for lunch.

After lunch we needed to get our halfway certificates, so we headed to the church that provide them it was absolutely beautiful inside, with details of its restoration.

Our certificates are also beautiful..

Once secured in our backpacks we headed through Sahagun to pick up the route to Bercianos del Real Camino.

Once out the town, it was a long, mostly straight, hot path. There was some shade, but we were delighted when the albergue came into view.

Today's route...
